SINCE 1939

Royal Tyres is an independent black-owned tyre business. We are a recognised leader in the tyre industry and one of the most successful companies in KwaZulu-Natal for over eighty years. The ethos of our Company is founded on the legendary business principles of integrity, customer service excellence, and competitive prices.

Our Company is segregated into two specialised divisions, Commercial and Passenger with a team of experienced personnel in the tyre industry, providing our customers with a highly skilled resource team who are able to provide expert service and value to our customers.

Our History

1939

Royal Vulcanizing Station was established in a 20 square metre room on Prince Edward Street, hired for retreading tyres. Production was two tyres per day at the time.

1945

Premises burned down and was relocated to Lorne Street, a bigger location with higher production.

1954

In December we moved into a newly-built premises on 3 Epson Road with a filling station, tyre fitment, mechanical workshop and retreading facility.

1977

In December, we were forced to relocate to Chatsworth due to Apartheid Policies.

1983

In December, we established our branch currently situated on Umgeni Road.

1988

Acquired entire premises at Umgeni Road..

1996

Acquired adjoining building on St. Matthias Road.

2001

Port Shepstone branch established.

2006

Retreading plant relocated to North Coast Road.

2018

Rebranded to Royal Tyres.

2020

Royal Tyres Commercial Division established.

2021

Royal Tyres Industrial & Bulk Division established.

2023

Royal Tyres Commercial opens in Phoenix Industrial Park.
